Mad Mike claims top spot in Formula DRIFT World Championships Round 3: Ebisu.
‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett sits on top of the Formula Drift World Championship after taking first place in the ‘Humbul’ RX7.
At the third round of the Formula DRIFT World Championships in Ebisu, Japan, 'Mad' Mike Whiddett took out the top spot thanks to a perfectly executed backwards entry on his lead run.
In a unanimous decision from the judges, Mad Mike claimed his spot at the top of the podium after facing top Japanese drifter, Masashi Yokoi. Though going door-to-door on both runs, it was Mad Mike’s impressive display of drifting skill on his lead run that sealed the deal on his first Formula DRIFT victory since Thailand in 2009.
“Winning at Ebisu against some of the world’s best is more than just a dream; it’s a 100% determination, hard work, time & commitment. It’s something we have been charging for, and it meant everything to be on top with the Red Bull Magic Mazda RX7!” says ‘Mad’ Mike.
